Community partner at Juvenile Services tests positive for COVID-19

August 24, 2020

A community partner who works at the Juvenile Justice Complex has a confirmed positive test for COVID-19. Multnomah County officials are working closely with local public health to take steps to protect others in the building. In order to protect the identity of the community partner, and to maintain confidentiality, the name, gender, job title or work location of the employee will not be disclosed.

The Health Department in the individual's county of residence is working directly with them to determine if others have been exposed. Spread of the virus is most often from close and prolonged contact (for example within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes).  All affected individuals will be notified by public health of potential exposure.

“We continue to take all necessary measures to protect the health and safety of the young people in our custody, our employees, and community,’’ said Erika Preuitt, director of the Department of Community Justice, which oversees the Juvenile Services Division.  This includes strict adherence to wearing face coverings, physical distancing, and cleaning and hygiene protocols.
