Multnomah County’s Department of Community Services launches national search for next Multnomah County Animal Services Director

September 17, 2019

Multnomah County’s Department of Community Services has begun a national search for the next Multnomah County Animal Services Director.

Last week, (September 11, 2019) outside recruitment firm GovHR USA  launched a comprehensive recruitment for the director of the County’s programming and shelter in Troutdale. This recruitment will involve a range of advertising tools and resources to access highly-qualified candidates in the field of Animal Services.

A national search will take time. We have gathered input from our community advisory committee, staff members and community partners on key characteristics they would like to see with the next director. These key stakeholders will continue to have input as the recruitment process progresses. Several screenings will occur as the candidate pool is narrowed and we hope to conduct interviews of top candidates in late October.

We are committed to this competitive, nationwide recruitment. A similar process was used to successfully attract and hire the new Health Department director, Dr. Patricia Charles-Heathers. We look forward to continued community input and updates as the process progresses.
