Multnomah County statement on former employee Sandy Ortiz

Multnomah County learned that law enforcement had contacted Health Department employee Sandy Sanscrito Ortiz about a sexual assault allegation on June 28, 2018. Ortiz was placed on administrative leave July 2 and resigned July 16, 2018. He is no longer a county employee.

Ortiz has since been arrested in connection to sexual assaults in 2000 and 2001. The Portland Police Bureau reports that detectives are attempting to determine where Ortiz met the alleged victim.

Multnomah County is providing his work history and image so people can contact Portland Police if they have information about him at the following locations. The County is cooperating fully with law enforcement.

Ortiz worked at the N.E. Health Center, 5329 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. prior to 2007. He worked at the N.E. Health Center as a front desk clerk from 1994 to 1999, and then in the medical record chart room until 2007. He was transferred to the McCoy Building in 2007 when the chartroom was centralized.
