Multnomah County & Washington County Commissioners appoint Shannon Jones Isadore to House District 33

Multnomah County, Ore. (Sept., 2024) — Following the resignation of State Representative Maxine Dexter from the Oregon House of Representatives, Washington County and Multnomah County commissioners held a joint session Sept. 26 to interview candidates and select a replacement for the open position.

Multnomah and Washington counties’ commissioners selected Shannon Jones Isadore to represent Oregon House District 33 in a unanimous vote Thursday, with Washington County Commissioner Jerry Willey excused.

Isadore is a United States Marine Corps veteran who serves as both a treatment provider and a business owner. She is the founder of Oregon Change Clinic, a culturally specific clinic that provides substance use and mental health treatment, as well as supportive housing.

Oregon law requires that a legislative vacancy be filled by county commissioners representing the district in which the vacancy exists. Two candidates were considered, including Isadore and Michael DiNapoli.

House District 33 includes parts of downtown Portland as well as the northwestern part of the city, including Forest Park. The district includes voters in Washington and Multnomah counties.

Isadore will serve the remainder of Dexter’s term, which ends Dec. 31, 2024.

Thursday’s appointment was live streamed on the Multnomah County Board of Commissioner’s YouTube Channel.
