Apply for the Regional Arts & Culture Council Board

Multnomah County’s Office of Community Involvement is accepting applications from county residents to serve as Multnomah County representatives on the Regional Arts & Culture Council (RACC) Board of Directors. An independent nonprofit organization, RACC supports the creative economy in greater Portland by equitably providing funding and services to artists and art organizations; managing and growing a diverse, nationally acclaimed, public art program; and developing enduring public and private partnerships.

The RACC Board meets approximately five times annually, in February, May, June, September and November. Committee meetings are more frequent depending on the needs of that committee to gather.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE: Shall have and may exercise the full authority of the Board between meetings of the Board of Directors; provides leadership and sets the agenda for RACC; advises on political issues.

FINANCE & AUDIT COMMITTEE Oversees RACC fiscal policies and budget processes. Monitors RACC financial statements and advises the board in all areas of finance, including budgeting, financial reporting, investment activities, and internal controls. Serves as audit committee.

GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE: Responsible for review, recommendation, and oversight of RACC policies and procedures.

NOMINATIONS COMMITTEE: Charged with: 1) Identifying prospective board members; 2) Ensuring a good representations on the board; 3) Setting up and conducting all initial meetings with prospective board members; 4) Confirming mutual interest and alignment; 5) Monitoring and maintaining the Election process; and 6) Conducting notifications and onboarding processes for newly appointed members.

PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE: Oversees policies, sets goals and provides curatorial guidance for the selection, placement and maintenance of works of art acquired through the Percent for Art Program and other public/private programs.

Board members are appointed to a three-year term and can serve up to two terms for a total of six years.

Applications must be received by 11:59pm on April 18th. ​Multnomah County will review applications and recommend candidates for RACC’s consideration.
