Updated May 10, 2023

Is Multnomah County installing cooling units?

Multnomah County purchased a limited number of air conditioning (AC) units to distribute this spring to households at high risk in heat events. Currently, remaining units are being distributed to current clients of county Aging, Disability & Veterans Services and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities divisions.

Please see the following programs to learn about eligibility for AC units or other local cooling resources.

City of Portland:

City of Portland residents may be eligible to have an air conditioner installed in their home. Contact Portland Clean Energy Fund to learn more.

Multnomah County: Current clients only

As supply is limited, cooling units are only available to individuals and families receiving services through the Department of County Human Services who are identified as high risk. The County is reaching out to eligible households through their case managers and service coordinators.

If you are a current client and wonder if you are eligible you can contact:

Aging, Disability, and Veterans Services: Contact your ADVSD Service Provider or Caseworker.

Intellectual & Developmental Services: Contact your IDD Service Provider or Caseworker.

Medical Providers/Health Plans
