Curb ramp improvement work continues through January

TRAFFIC ALERT: Curb ramp improvement work that began last week in east Multnomah County will continue through January. Expect traffic delays.

Single lane closures will continue on Buxton Road each weekday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. between S.W. 2nd Avenue and S.W. 8th Avenue in Troutdale. Flaggers will be on site directing traffic. Crews will also be working on ramps near the northwest entrance to the Sandy River RV Resort off the Historic Columbia River Highway. Both lanes of traffic will remain open on the highway for this work, but there may be some brief delays.

This work is part of Multnomah County Transportation’s ADA Transition Plan. The Americans with Disabilities Act requires all public agencies with more than 50 employees to have a transition plan, which outlines accessibility requirements for Multnomah County’s Transportation Division work within the County right-of-way.

The Multnomah County Board of Commissioners has designated funds to do accessibility improvements as part of the County’s mission to promote equitable outcomes for the community. Transportation has worked on ramps during previous resurfacing and road projects. This is the first project focused solely on ramp construction.

This work is weather dependent and subject to change. Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes.
