October 17, 2011, 13 parole/probation officers (PPOs) participated in a search for wanted domestic violence offenders throughout Multnomah County. Their efforts resulted in the arrest of 11 offenders. Nationwide, more than 700 offenders were arrested on October 17th for domestic violence related offenses.
“This event was a huge success and sends a message to offenders that we are watching them,” said Pat Schreiner, District Manager, “Our PPOs are active in the community because it helps keep the victims safe and sends a message to families that we take this issue very seriously.”
The sweep coincided with Domestic Violence Awareness Month and brings attention to the problem of domestic violence throughout the country. The Department of Community Justice (DCJ) has participated in the Annual Family Violence Apprehension SWEEP for ten straight years.
