Electric fire closes downtown Courthouse and Portland Building on Monday

December 8, 2013

An electrical fire that occurred in a Portland General Electric vault in downtown Portland on Sunday has cut power to a number of buildings in the downtown core, resulting in the closure of two county facilities: the Multnomah County Courthouse and the Portland Building (where the county leases space from the City of Portland).

County employees working in those facilities should expect to be contacted by their department with instructions on when and where to report to work.

  • Emplyees with the District Attorney's Office can call 503-988-5006 for information about when to report for work.
  • Employees in the Department of Community can call 503-988-6757.

All other county buildings will be open.

The outage is also impacting phone and email service to the following county services:

  • District Attorney’s Office
  • Family Court Services
