Multnomah County Animal Services, Fred Meyer launch pet food drive to support local animals

This October, Fred Meyer is partnering with Multnomah County Animal Services to help provide essential supplies for local families and their animals throughout a monthlong “Howl-o-ween” pet food drive.

From October 1-31, customers can donate unopened pet food, treats, toys, and other pet care items at all Fred Meyer stores. Donations collected during the drive will directly support animals through the Multnomah County Animal Services Community Shelf, and partnerships with local organizations that support communities in need.

“Pets bring so much joy and companionship to our lives and this pet food drive is an opportunity for our customers to make a meaningful difference for animals in need,” said Tiffany Sanders, Fred Meyer communications and public affairs. “Every donation helps support families and their pets in the community.”

Multnomah County Animal Services works year-round to reunite lost pets with their families, investigate animal welfare concerns and connect pets with new homes. Community support plays a vital role in helping the shelter provide quality care for animals throughout the year.

“Multnomah County Animal Services is excited to partner with Fred Meyer to support our county's pets in need,” said Bud Garrison, MCAS project manager. “This is an amazing program that will support many animal welfare organizations across multiple states in serving their communities.”

Whether it's a bag of pet food, a toy, or a package of treats, every donation helps improve the lives of pets in the community. Together, Fred Meyer and Multnomah County Animal Services hope to fill shelves, and ensure local pets have the resources they need.
