Our community depends on the life-saving services these funds make possible.
For Fiscal Year 2025, Multnomah County budgeted $280 million in federal grant funds (including direct federal, federal through state, and federal through other local governments). These funds provide food, housing and healthcare, as well as services for seniors. They fund programs that prevent school violence, the spread of HIV and drug overdoses. Federal dollars promote healthier births, maintain or replace roads and bridges across Multnomah County and support family caregivers.
People and businesses in this County pay their federal taxes and the funding that comes back to Multnomah County affects the lives and livability of every single person and business here.
The County’s recently created a workgroup to monitor the changing federal landscape is working to determine what this unprecedented pause in all federal grants and loans means. Federal officials have not provided any direct information, but we’re in contact with the state and other agencies to try to learn more.
