Chip seals set for rural east county roads July 14 - 21

Chip seal treatments are scheduled for three rural roads in east Multnomah County July 14 - 21.  Travelers should expect short delays on these lightly used roads between weekday work hours of 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

A chip seal is a low-cost paving treatment used on lightly traveled rural roads.  The seal requires a multi-step process in which layers of oil and gravel are applied on different days, and then topped with a final oil layer called a fog seal.  The full width of the road will be treated, but traffic delays should be limited to 15 minutes or less.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday and Wednesday, July 14 and 16: NE Grange Hall Road (from Historic Columbia River Highway to SE Littlepage Road) and SE Littlepage Road (from Historic Columbia River Highway to SE Rickert Road)
  • Tuesday and Thursday, July 15 and 17: E Larch Mountain Road from Milepost 3 to Milepost 4
  • Monday, July 21: Add fog seal layer to all the roads treated

Multnomah County maintains these rural roads and 300 miles of roads and bridges.  For more information, visit roads.
