These efforts resulted in 21 arrest warrants served, almost double the number from last year’s sweep. Andrew Altman, a Community Justice Manager who oversees the Domestic Violence Unit, was proud of the outcome and admitted the dark, stormy day helped their cause.
The annual sweep takes place during Domestic Violence Awareness month and brings attention to the problem of domestic violence throughout the country. DCJ has participated in this event for twelve straight years. The Domestic Violence Unit is the largest DCJ unit. PPOs are specially trained to work with domestic violence offenders as well as victims.
