Transit Planning and Funding

We have partnered with TriMet, Portland, and Troutdale to enhance local commuter options in areas without regular transit service.

Multnomah County Transportation's transit services are funded through the State Transportation Improvement Fund (STIF), a new dedicated source of funding for improving or expanding public transportation service in Oregon.

The fund was adopted in 2017 as part of the Keep Oregon Moving legislation. This funding is intended in part to improve “coordination between public transportation service providers to reduce fragmentation in the provision of transportation services” (ORS 184.758 (5)(a)(F)).

Our shuttles are a partnership with TriMet, Portland, Troutdale and the Port of Portland to enhance local commuter options in areas without regular transit service.

The ACCESS job connector shuttle was originally envisioned as part of TriMet’s Service Enhancement Plan for North/Central Portland from 2015.
