March 29 construction subcontractor outreach event for Central Courthouse and Health Department Headquarters projects

An outreach event will be held Tuesday, March 29 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. to share information about construction subcontracting opportunities for the $300 million Multnomah County Central Courthouse project, and the $85-$95 million Multnomah County Health Department Headquarters project. The event will be held at the Multnomah Building’s first floor board room at 501 S.E. Hawthorne Boulevard.

The event is a networking opportunity for subcontractors to meet with Hoffman Construction and JE Dunn Construction’s project management teams and their mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) trade partners. Hoffman’s partners include On Electric Group, Total Mechanical – Westside Mechanical, and General Sheet Metal – Dryside Mechanical.  JE Dunn’s partners include On Electric Group, Charter Mechanical, and Western States Fire Protection.

Hoffman is the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the Multnomah County Central Courthouse, and JE Dunn is the Construction Manager/General Contractor (CM/GC) for the Multnomah County Health Department Headquarters. In the CM/GC project delivery method, the general contractor is hired during design to provide input on construction methods and identify cost savings before construction begins.

Both project teams are looking for state certified Minority, Women and Emerging Small Business (MWESB) firms to join the projects. Representatives from Multnomah County, SRG Partnership (the Courthouse architect), DAY CPM Services (the Courthouse owner’s representative), ZGF Architects (the Health headquarters architect), and Shiels Obletz Johnsen (the Health headquarters owner’s representative) will be onsite to meet with firms.

Both the Courthouse and Health headquarters projects are in the design phase. Heavy construction for the Courthouse is scheduled to start in 2017 and be completed in 2020. Construction for the Health Department headquarters is scheduled to start in 2017 and be completed in early 2019.

There is limited free street parking and paid parking in the garage on Hawthorne across from the building.
