Deena Corso has been selected to be the new Division Director of the Juvenile Services Division (JSD) at the Department of Community Justice (DCJ). She brings 25 years of experience to her position and is passionate about ending Racial & Ethnic Disparities (RED).
Corso is a juvenile justice expert on a local and national level. She is currently the secretary of the American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) and a former president of the Oregon Counseling Association. She is also a licensed professional counselor.
In her new role, Corso wants to lead change using an inclusive and transparent process. Her plans include selecting, hiring, and maintaining a diverse workforce to achieve successful outcomes for youth. She also plans to continue collaborating with community partners and system stakeholders to reach that goal. Corso also wants to enhance the focus on victims in the juvenile court process, emphasizing the use of restorative justice principles and practices, and ensuring the system does not cause further trauma or harm.
She will start her position on August 1st.
