The Multnomah County Health Department is investigating hepatitis A at two Portland cafes.
This is only for people who ate or drank at the Cup & Saucer, 8237 N Denver March 22 to March 29 OR ate at the cafe Feb. 22 to March 29 and then had fever, tiredness, belly pain, vomiting, diarrhea or jaundice.
This is also for anyone who ate or drank at the Cup & Saucer at 3566 SE Hawthorne March 22 or March 25.
The best way to prevent hepatitis A is by getting vaccinated. There are vaccines that can lower the risk of getting sick if they are given within 2 weeks of coming in contact with the virus.
Callers should check with your provider about vaccine or other care options.
If you don't have a provider or you can't get into your provider in time, vaccines are available through the Multnomah County Immunization Clinic at 426 SW Stark Street, Portland (3rd floor). Walk-in clinic hours are:
April 6-7, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
April 8, 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
April 10-12, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Also, you may be able to get the vaccine at your local pharmacy. Walgreens, Rite Aid, Fred Meyer, and Costco pharmacies all offer hepatitis A vaccine to anyone over age 7. Call your neighborhood pharmacy directly to find out more.
Hepatitis A is now a required vaccine for Oregon children up to 8th grade. So if your school-aged child is up to date on vaccinations, they are protected.
