Multnomah County is offering an in-person open house and an online open house this month to gather public input on its capital improvement plan for the county’s roads. The Board of County Commissioners is scheduled to vote on the plan on December 19.
The county has 274 miles of roads, mostly in rural areas and in the east county cities of Fairview, Troutdale and Wood Village. The county also has roads in some urban unincorporated areas, such as Dunthorpe and the West Hills.
The plan prioritizes capital projects – ranging from road widening to bike lanes to culvert replacements and more – based on criteria that include safety, equity, asset management, mobility, resiliency, and sustainability.
The in-person open house is at:
Wood Village Baptist Church
23601 NE Arata Rd., Wood Village
Tuesday, November 12, 5:30 – 7 pm
An online open house with the same information and input opportunities will be offered from November 8 - 24 at https://openhouse.jla.us.com/multco-roads-3.
Using earlier public feedback received, the plan prioritizes 132 projects that cover 174 miles of county roads. The in-person and online open houses include:
- Project descriptions and scores, including an interactive map
- Opportunities to comment on projects, priorities and additional projects that should be included
Because the cost of the 132 projects vastly exceeds funds available, public input on the plan will help the county prioritize which projects should be completed in the short term.
