Law enforcement agencies including the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office, Portland Police, and Gresham Police not only respond to incidents, but work with the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office, its specialized units and Multnomah County’s Department of Community Justice to build relationships with community members and proactively deter violence.
Specialized law enforcement units such as:

Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office Access Attorney Program (MAAP): embeds Deputy District Attorneys in neighborhoods to provide a hands-on resource for community members and businesses to address local safety concerns including gun violence. MAAP attorneys co-locate with community-based partners, prioritizing those by and for people of color.

Enhanced Community Safety Team (Portland): This team (3 sergeants, 9 officers and 10 detectives) focuses on disrupting broad shooting trends and works full time on shooting investigations. The team regularly collaborates with Multnomah County DA’s Office, US Attorney’s Office, Multnomah County Parole and Probation, the City of Portland’s Office of Violence Prevention and the FBI, among others.

Portland Police Focused Intervention Team (FIT) (Portland): The team of 3 sergeants and 12 officers respond to shootings on a regular basis and work proactively to reduce gun violence.
