TRAFFIC ALERT: Next week there will be directional lane closures on the Hawthorne Bridge for ongoing maintenance and paving work. Expect traffic delays. 

Eastbound lanes

There will be nightly eastbound closures Monday, Sept. 9 through Wednesday, Sept. 11. 

On Monday, Sept. 9 at 7:00 p.m. the eastbound vehicular lanes will be closed on the Hawthorne Bridge. Pedestrians will be directed to use the westbound sidewalk. Cyclists will be directed to a detour. The eastbound vehicular lanes and sidewalk will reopen at 11:00 a.m. the following morning. Those lanes will close during the same time frames, on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and Wednesday, Seot. 11. 

There will be flaggers on the bridge directing traffic.  

Westbound lanes

On Thursday, Sept. 12 starting at 2:00 p.m. the westbound vehicular lanes will be closed on the Hawthorne Bridge. Pedestrians will be directed to use the eastbound sidewalk. Cyclists will be directed to a detour. The westbound vehicular lanes and sidewalk will reopen on Friday, Sept. 13 at 5:00 a.m. There will be flaggers on the bridge directing traffic.

These closures are weather dependent. Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes.
