Job description

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  • Perform technical support to various fiscal work units including accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, and payroll.
  • Compile, record, and summarize fiscal data; create correspondence and related documents; post, adjust, and reconcile designated accounts and balances; prepare reports of financial activities and transactions.
  • Verify and maintain supporting records and documentation of designated activities such as billings, payments, reimbursements, deposits, and petty cash.
  • Evaluate records, reports, and accounting documents for accuracy; trace, research, and investigate transactions to resolve questionable data and take corrective action.
  • Perform routine account reconciliation and initiate appropriate course of action; code and prepare documents; verify and prepare invoices, billings, purchase orders, vouchers, warrants, and statements for disposition.
  • Provide information and assistance to other work units, vendors, and to the public regarding operating policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Receive general supervision from manager or staff.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. Requirements are determined at the time of recruitment based on responsibilities of the individual position and business needs of the department.

Finance Technician

Training and experience for journey level, administrative support classifications are typically equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and one (1) to four (4) years of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. (Equivalency 1-4 years of qualifying training and/or experience).

Depending upon assignment, candidates may be required to pass a criminal background check, have a valid driver license, and/or additional training, licenses, or certificates.
