Multnomah County Animal Services (MCAS) is proud to announce its partnership with PetSmart Charities to make shelter cats permanently available for adoption at the PetSmart store located in Gresham at 430 N.W. Eastman Pkwy.
Through this ongoing partnership, adoptable cats from MCAS will live in the store’s in-house cattery year-round. PetSmart staff will assist potential adopters during regular store hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
Additionally, MCAS cats are participating in PetSmart’s Adopt Joy event running this week from July 20 to 26. On Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., MCAS staff and volunteers will be on-site with adoptable cats. “Our new adoption partnership with PetSmart Charities to bring adoptable cats to the Gresham PetSmart store helps connect pets and people in a centralized location during convenient hours,” said Erin Grahek, director of Multnomah County Animal Services. “This opens new doors for adoptable cats and for potential adopters.”
“Making room in your heart and home for a pet opens the door for another pet to enter the shelter, so you’re really saving two lives,” said Aimee Gilbreath, president of PetSmart Charities. “We’re thankful for the professionals and volunteers at Multnomah County Animal Services for the love and care they give to pets all year long — together we can make a significant impact on people and pets.”
“We’re grateful for this relationship and the outlet PetSmart Charities provides for the animals in our care,” said Melissa Holmes, admissions and adoptions supervisor at MCAS. “Things have been going very well during our soft opening. They have helped find homes for cats and kittens we have brought to the adoption center in record time. This is a wonderful opportunity for adopters, especially in these summer months when more cats and kittens are available.”
