After hours of sniffing, playing and flirting, 46 animals left the Animal House Adoption Party with new families. Twenty-nine cats, 16 dogs and one rabbit found forever homes at the Multnomah County Animal Services’ (MCAS) third annual toga party.
Guests partied outside the MCAS shelter in Troutdale until midnight on Saturday, July 31. The kissing booth, staffed by the shelter’s sloppiest canine kissers, was a big hit, as were local bands the Live Jazz Project, Burnside Stranglers and Empire Rocket Machine.
On a typical Saturday in July, Animal Services facilitates about four adoptions. With the help of K103 deejays, community sponsors and volunteers, the toga party increased Saturday’s adoptions more than 10-fold.
The toga party is over, but Animal Services has more adoptable dogs and cats looking for forever homes. For more information, visit the MCAS website.
