Multnomah County Department of Community Justice had over 50 staff members participate in National Night Out (NNO) events this year. These included 9 neighborhood celebrations Tuesday, August 6th (South Park Blocks, Holladay Park, PCC Cascade, Peninsula Park, Woodlawn Park, McCoy Park, Vance Park, Red Sunset Park, and Center for the Arts Plaza) and one party at Parklane Park Friday, August 9th.
Staff members handed out bubbles, glow sticks and safety stickers/badges to children of all ages. DCJ staff also shared information about volunteer opportunities across the department and the important role of probation and parole in order to keep communities safe. Staff from across the department including DCJ’s bike patrol attended these celebrations while interacting with neighbors in this annual event held across the country to spotlight crime prevention programs and agencies.
This was DCJ’s largest NNO participation to date. Each year, communities have welcomed DCJ’s participation as these events have become more celebratory and well attended. In addition to visits from community safety officials, this year’s celebrations included live music and performances, food, movies, booths from community organizations, giveaways and much more. Thanks to all DCJ staff for your willingness to participate in this great community event!
