You may have received a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) in the mail from the Multnomah County Health Department. 

A Good Faith Estimate Is Not a Bill

It includes information and estimated costs for services you are expected to receive, such as:

  • Clinic visits
  • Immunizations
  • Tests
  • Procedures
  • Medications given during visits
  • Other services provided as part of the visit

Once you are at your appointment, your health care provider may recommend additional services that you need that are not shown in the estimate. You will not be denied services if you are unable to pay.

Why am I getting a this?

For many services, the federal No Surprises Act requires us to provide a cost estimate to uninsured clients before a visit. It's meant to reduce unexpected medical bills and allow clients to make informed decisions about their care.

Am I required to pay this amount now? 

No. You are not required to pay the amount on the GFE now. Community Health Center clients may receive a bill from us after your appointment.

What if I receive a bill that is higher than the Good Faith Estimate? 

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your GFE or if you have other questions about your bill, contact our Business Services offices at 503-988-4753. This will not impact the quality or type of health care you receive.
