Layan Ammouri
Policy Advisor
About
Layan graduated from Portland State University with a Masters Degree in Public Policy where she focused her education and research on equitable policy practices. She is a first-generation Arab-American and speaks Arabic fluently. Her previous experience includes working with the Commission on Black Affairs and the Department of Education to conduct a study on disproportionate discipline in Oregon school districts and its impact on the academic achievement of students of color.
Layan has also taken on a diverse array of policy analysis and development projects. She is a strong advocate of racial, cultural, and economic justice. She is eager to use the skills she acquired from working in higher education and the political, and non-profit realms to execute and promote inclusive policy practices here at Multnomah County.
When not working, you can find her perusing through local thrift stores, making jewelry or starting a new craft project.
