Multnomah County sponsors events and programs as part of our diversity efforts. Events and programs are sponsored based on the value they provide to the contracting and workforce development community.

The goal of providing sponsorships is to help support the organizations that provide workforce and business development services, and organizations that support diverse communities and the youth within these communities. Multnomah County sponsorships support diversity across a spectrum of services, organizations, and communities. These sponsorships include but are not limited to:

Constructing Hope Pre-apprenticeship Program - Focused on providing entry level training in construction and providing participants with an understanding of what it takes to be successful in the trades and what opportunities are available.  This organization focuses on providing opportunities to low-income individuals.

Oregon Trades Women, Inc. – Multnomah County has partnered with Oregon Trades Women, Inc. to support their efforts to diversity the construction trades. Oregon Trades Women, Inc. provide a number of training, education and career development opportunities for women and girls interested in pursuing a career in the construction trades.  For more specific information regarding the pre-apprenticeship opportunities available through Oregon Trades Women, Inc., read their Trades and Apprenticeship Career Class (TACC) brochure.

Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs Youth Camp - The Youth Entrepreneurship Program aims to promote and develop youth entrepreneurs and leaders statewide through hands-on training and the mentorship of volunteer businesses in the state of Oregon and SW Washington. 

Oregon Association of Minority Entrepreneurs Annual Tradeshow - The annual tradeshow provides a forum for small and large businesses, state, county and federal government agencies and business development resources to market their services and opportunities.

Business Diversity Week - Annually the Business Diversity Institute, Inc. hosts Business Diversity Week workshops and awards program.  Training is provided to public agency staff and large general contractors to help ensure their diversity programs are being run effectively.  Additionally, training is provided to MWESB businesses tailored to the specific challenges of the time.

Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber annually hosts a celebration dinner and silent auction to benefit the Hispanic Chamber's Scholarship program.  Local professionals are honored at the event for their contributions to the Latino community. 

Skanner Foundation Breakfast - Annually the Skanner Foundation hosts a breakfast in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
