- Does the provider use fuel efficient vehicles (percentage of their fleet, phase-in plan)?
- How does the provider maintain their fleet (washing, servicing, and replacement, environmentally preferred fluids such as oil, anti-freeze etc)?
- How does the provider address emissions reduction (low emission fuels, diesel engine retrofit devices, EPA standards, idling restrictions)?
These options can include: hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles, carpooling, route optimization, video and teleconferencing, no-idling policies and more. If the vendor will be delivering near schools or libraries, consider asking about their idling policies. Perhaps the vendor has one hybrid vehicle that it could use for all meetings to County facilities.
