The public is now invited to review and comment on Multnomah County’s stormwater management plan.
Multnomah County has a stormwater management responsibility on county-owned roads in the cities of Fairview, Troutdale, Wood Village, county-owned Willamette River bridges and urban pockets of unincorporated Multnomah County. The Stormwater Management Plan is designed to minimize the impact to roadways, development and county operations on water quality.
The plan consists of seven categories of best management practices that provide a comprehensive approach to reduce stormwater pollution. These include activities like catch basin cleaning, street sweeping, public education, land use permitting, and capital improvements.
The Stormwater Management Plan is a requirement of the county’s National Pollutant Discharge and Elimination System Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (NPDES MS4) Phase I permit. It describes activities implemented from November 1, 2022 through September 30, 2026. The county solicits public comment and review of the Stormwater Management Plan before the report is submitted to the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality.
The draft 2022 Stormwater Management Plan is now available online at: /water-quality-program/reports-and-plans.
Written public comments on the plan can be submitted by October 24 at 5 p.m. to the Water Quality Program at water.quality@multco.us or 1620 SE 190th Avenue Portland, Oregon 97233. For more information call Roy Iwai at 971-276-1387 or visit: /water-quality-program.
