CARD 2A: But do you know what to do if you find a missing pet?
CARD 2B: Or if your pet is missing?

We are the stray holding facility for the county
so all lost animals that are found strays are actually
required to be brought to us directly
or reported to us and posted on our website
as a found animal so that owners
have a chance to come and get reunited.
CARD 3A: If you find a pet in Multnomah County, you must report it to Multnomah County Animal Services as soon as possible.
CARD 3B: Call the shelter or visit MultCoPets.org and click on Lost & Found to file a found report.
CARD 4: Missing pets brought into the shelter will receive an exam, health vaccinations and scan for any sort of identification.
We’ll get a profile built up in our computer system and our database.
And within an hour of that being in our database,
our database has communicated with our website
with a basic profile posted on our lost and found pages.
Within six hours at the top end we’ll have a photo attached
to that description as well.
CARD 5A: Good Samaritans who find a pet can also keep it at home, if they think they can reasonably find the owner.
CARD 5B: You are still required by law to report it to Multnomah County Animal Services.
CARD 6A: The shelter holds missing pets that don’t have identification for three days.
CARD 6B: And six days for pets that are licensed, microchipped or have a rabies tag.
CARD 7A: This stray hold period doesn’t begin until the day after the animal comes to the shelter.
CARD 7B: And it doesn’t include holidays or days the shelter is closed.
CARD 7C: Pets may become eligible for adoption after that.
CARD 8: The most important thing you can do is get your pet licensed.
CARD 9A: If you are missing a pet, call or visit MultCoPets.org and search found reports.
CARD 9B: You should also report your pet as lost.
CARD 10: When your pet is found, you must provide proof of ownership and I.D.
CARD 11: In 2017, more than 1,700 animals were reunited with their families.
