Tom Powers brings over 15 years of experience working in the Oregon State Legislature enacting new laws and budgets. He previously served as Caucus Administrator for the Senate Majority Office and as Chief of Staff in the Senate President's Office. His significant legislative accomplishments include successfully leading the passage of new redistricting maps for legislative and congressional districts in both 2011 and 2021.
Tom's strong policy expertise, sound judgment, and collaborative approach were consistently demonstrated during his time as the State and Regional Affairs Coordinator for Multnomah County’s Office of Government Relations. He has represented the County on transportation, taxation, health care, sustainability, and other issues. He is now the Senior State Policy Manager, a role where his strong understanding of state policy issues and established, trusted internal and external relationships will be a significant asset.
Tom graduated from Whitman College and lives in southwest Portland with his family. When he's not working to advance legislative priorities, you can find Tom hauling his kids around on a cargo e-bike.
