The Health Department’s Mental Health & Addiction Services division has been renamed Behavioral Health on July 1.
The change to behavioral health is being made to better reflect the services we offer. And to recognize that we treat the whole person along with everything else that's happening in their lives.
Behavioral health carries also less stigma than mental health or addictions treatment, and is more commonly used in the community.
The division is the local behavioral health authority for Multnomah County. It serves nearly 50,000 people experiencing mental health and recovery issues each year.
