Expect lane and ramp closures on Morrison Bridge this weekend for joint repairs

TRAFFIC ALERT: On Saturday, June 13, from 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the eastbound off-ramp from the Morrison Bridge toward OMSI and the off-ramp to I-5 north will be closed. Crews will be making joint repairs to the east and westbound bridge approaches. Closures of these ramps continue on Sunday, June 14 during these same time frames. During this work, there will also be intermittent directional closures on the bridge. Flaggers will be on site directing traffic. The sidewalks and bike lanes will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians.

TriMet’s bus stop 15 (eastbound and westbound) will be intermittently closed throughout this work.

Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes

This work is part of the Morrison Bridge Strengthening Project. The project is adding titanium rebar to strengthen the S.E. Morrison Street and S.E. Belmont Street approach ramps on the east side of the Morrison Bridge. This will remove the weight restrictions that prevent heavy trucks from using the bridge and keep it safe for modern freight trucks and other vehicles to cross. Crews will also repair the bearings and motors that lift and lower the bridge lift span. These updates will keep the bridge in good working order.
