TRAFFIC ALERT: On Tuesday, August 12, and Wednesday August 13, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day, there will be lane closures on the Morrison Bridge S.E. Belmont Street Viaduct. This is the portion of the bridge that connects to S.E. Belmont Street on the far east end of the bridge. Crews will be replacing an existing expansion joint in the bridge deck. The S.E. Belmont Street ramp to OR-99E will be periodically closed during this work. There will be signs detouring traffic. Work may extend through the rest of the week.
Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes.
This work is part of the Morrison Bridge Strengthening Project. The project is adding titanium rebar to strengthen the S.E. Morrison Street and S.E. Belmont Street approach ramps on the east side of the Morrison Bridge. This will remove the weight restrictions that prevent heavy trucks from using the bridge and keep it safe for modern freight trucks and other vehicles to cross. Crews will also repair the bearings and motors that lift and lower the bridge lift span. These updates will keep the bridge in good working order.
