The chair’s proposed budget would raise the cost of Multnomah County’s tobacco retail license fee. Right now, the fee is $683.

If approved, the fee will go up to $984 to match the state’s license fee. The new fees would start on July 1, 2026.

The county is also reviewing plans to raise other health license fees»

Why Now

Multnomah County’s tobacco retail license fees have not increased since 2019.

Oregon established statewide tobacco retail licensing in 2021. Tobacco retailers in Multnomah County do not have to get a state tobacco retail license.

What’s Next

The Board of County Commissioners will decide the final budget on June 4, 2026. We will update retailers about any fee change after it’s been approved.
