Multnomah County invites the community to attend and provide feedback at several upcoming public meetings for zoning code updates. This is all part of a multi-year County project to audit, rewrite and modernize its zoning code.
Your input will help shape a more accessible and efficient Multnomah County zoning code. Your voice matters! Community input is crucial for this project to help refine amendment options and prioritize code issues. At the meetings, community members will have the opportunity to learn about the project's background, timeline and a general overview of zoning code.

The community previously voiced concerns noting the zoning code is confusing and lacks clear direction. The County also heard from residents that the lack of clarity with the current zoning code makes it difficult for property owners to make small changes and does not address neighborhood concerns. The County is working to address these concerns.
The updated code aims to:
- Enhance operations and customer service by streamlining permit review processes and easing some requirements
- Add clear and objective standards for most types of housing in unincorporated Multnomah County
- Provide clearer land use application pathways for quicker and easier permitting
