Multnomah County Medical Examiner identifies one suspected heat death in July 2022 heatwave

The Multnomah County Medical Examiner’s Program today reported it is investigating one suspected death associated with the heat wave that began this week. Investigators say confirmation will not be complete for several weeks to months.

The person died July 25, 2022 in Portland. No other details are being released at this time.

The County will update this information as it becomes available.

Health officials are asking people to take this heat wave seriously. If people don’t have a cool place to be at home, they should consider spending time at a cooling shelter or center.

If someone needs a free ride to somewhere cool, call 2-1-1. TriMet is also offering free rides to cool spaces for anyone who cannot afford to pay fare.
