NEWS RELEASE: Property tax payments are due Nov. 15, 2026

Property tax payments are due November 15, 2026. Oregon state law establishes the property tax payment deadlines and requires interest to be charged on properties with delinquent tax amounts. Multnomah County does not have the authority to waive interest charges as a result of late property tax payments, and the Oregon State Legislature has not, at this time, extended the property tax deadline. Note: If the 15th falls on the weekend, payment is due the next business day.

Multnomah County recommends making your property tax payment online, with one of our payment drop boxes, via your bank or credit union, or through the mail.

If you must make an in-person tax payment, DART offices will be open October 16th through November 15th to accept payments on a limited basis. No other services will be provided.

See the Property tax payment FAQs for more information including due dates, discounts, and interest.

Your mortgage company may be responsible for making your tax payment. If your property tax bill is yellow, it means a mortgage company or senior/disabled citizen deferral program has requested tax information to pay your tax bill. Check with your mortgage company or the senior/disabled citizen deferral program if you have questions.

How to appeal property tax

PLEASE NOTE:

Property values were determined as of Jan. 1, 2026

In Oregon, taxes are calculated on the lesser of the Maximum Assessed Value or Real Market Value. The result is called the Assessed Value. Taxpayers may appeal the Real Market Value and/or the Assessed Value of their property with the Property Valuation Appeals Board through Dec. 31, 2026.

The Board hears appeals beginning in February 2027 and through April 15, 2027.

Call 503-988-2225 to receive a petition for an appeal or a brochure that outlines the appeal process. Additional forms and information are available or go to 501 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97214.
