Multnomah County, Ore. (Oct. 19, 2026) — Last week, Multnomah County began mailing roughly 300,000 property tax statements and value notices. Property owners should receive their statements by Nov. 1.
Property tax payments are due Nov. 16, 2026. Oregon state law establishes the deadline for property tax payments and mandates interest charges on delinquent accounts. Multnomah County does not have the legal authority to extend the payment deadline or waive interest on late payments.
Taxpayers can lower their total obligation by taking advantage of full or partial payment discounts:
- 3% Discount: Pay 2026 property taxes in full by Nov. 16, 2026, or submit a payment postmarked by that date.
- 2% Discount: Pay two-thirds of 2026 property taxes by Nov. 16, 2026, or submit a payment postmarked by that date.
Flexible payment options are also available through installment plans for those managing payments over time. Taxes may be paid, without discount, in three equal installments due Nov. 16, 2026, Feb. 16, 2027, and May 17, 2027.

Understanding Your Statement
- Questions About Your Statement?
Each envelope includes an insert with a QR code directing taxpayers to the county’s online tax statement guide. The guide explains payment methods, statement terminology, and assessment details. Translated guides are available in six languages at multco.us/tax-statement. - Received a Yellow Statement?
A yellow statement indicates that another party (such as a mortgage lender or the Oregon Department of Revenue) has requested the bill. Taxpayers should check with that party before paying the bill.

How to Appeal Property Valuations
Property values were assessed as of Jan. 1, 2026.
Under Oregon law, property taxes are calculated based on the lesser of Maximum Assessed Value (MAV) or Real Market Value (RMV). The resulting lower figure represents the Assessed Value (AV). Taxpayers may appeal the Real Market Value and/or Assessed Value of their property to the Property Valuation Appeals Board through Dec. 31, 2026.
The Board will conduct appeal hearings from February 2027 through April 15, 2027.
To request an appeal petition or an explanatory brochure, call 503-988-2225. Petition forms and guidance documents are also available online or in person at 501 S.E. Hawthorne Blvd., Portland, OR 97214.
