Multnomah County, Ore. (Oct. 14, 2026) — The U.S. Postal Service has begun delivering ballots today, Wednesday, Oct. 14, for the Nov. 3, 2026, General Election.

Make a plan to VOTE

  1. Plan for when you will receive your ballot, when and where you will vote, and how you will return your ballot.
  2. You can return your ballot in person. Drop off your ballot at any one of more than 30 conveniently located Official Ballot Drop Sites before 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. This year, thanks to funding from the Secretary of State’s Office and the Oregon Legislature, two new drop sites have been added in Multnomah County: at the Corbett Water District Office, off the Historic Columbia River Highway (see map), and at the East Portland Moose Lodge on Northeast Halsey Street (see map).
  3. You can also return your ballot by mail. If you return your ballot by mail, be sure to mail it by Tuesday, Oct. 27, to ensure it’s postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 3, 2026.

Sign up for the Track Your Ballot service

If you haven’t already, County officials strongly recommend you to sign up for Multnomah County’s Track Your Ballot service. Track Your Ballot will send alerts when your ballot is on its way to you, when it has been received and when it’s accepted for counting. You’ll also receive access to a special Oregon “I Voted” virtual sticker inside the “Accepted Ballot” message, ready to share on social media.

Voters will see ranked choice voting in Multnomah County and City of Portland candidate contests!

For the first time ever, all Multnomah County voters will use ranked choice voting (RCV) in County Chair and District 2 Commissioner candidate contests. Ranked choice voting allows voters to rank candidates in order of preference instead of choosing only one candidate. This method allows someone’s vote to count toward another candidate if their favorite candidate will not be elected. Voters can rank up to six candidates or can vote for one candidate.

City of Portland voters will continue to use RCV in candidate contests, including for Portland City Auditor and City Councilors for Districts 3 and 4.

Want to practice? Check out RCV sample ballots for the November 2026 General Election or vote in our ranked choice voting contest for Multnomah County’s best natural area!

Visit multco.us/rcv to find videos, sample ballots and an overview of how votes are counted.

Tips to keep in mind

  • Only rank candidates who you support being elected.
  • Your vote still counts even if you rank only one candidate; ranking more than one candidate is optional.
  • Ranking additional candidates will not hurt the chances of your first-choice candidate.
