Work With Your Licenser to Meet Requirements for Licensure

All operators, resident managers and shift managers must attend the Adult Care Home Program (ACHP) approved training within the first year of licensure or approval:

  • Emergency Preparedness Planning
  • Record Keeping: Part B – Medication Management
  • Honoring Diversity
  • Fatal Four Training (providers serving I/DD residents)

If you serve APD residents, including private-pay residents, or behavioral health residents (formerly MHA), you must also take:

  • Recording Keeping: Part A – Screening and Care Planning

In-Person Emergency Preparedness Planning: 

Email us to sign up and include your preferred date. This course is open to all providers, even if they have previously taken Emergency Preparedness Planning. Every attendee will receive a binder with class materials.

Record Keeping Part A - Screening and Care Planning: 

This training is required for new APD and behavioral health licensed operators and resident managers within the first year (not required for DD). Email us to sign up and include your preferred date.

Cost: $30 3 CEUs

Record Keeping Part B: Medication Management for all Providers (Operators, Resident Managers, Caregivers): 

This training and test is required for new operators and resident managers within the first year. It is also required for caregivers who work in a home 20 or more hours per week or as the sole caregiver for the home. The caregiver must take this course within their first year as a caregiver and before being allowed to administer any medications.

Caregivers Can Now Take Approved Online Class Instead of Record Keeping B

Caregivers are now allowed to take the free online course “Six Rights of Safe Medication Administration for ODHS APD Adult Foster Home Staff” through Oregon Care Partners instead of Record Keeping B.

This makes it easier for caregivers to meet their role requirements without waiting for the in-person class.

In Person Record Keeping B Training:

Operators and resident managers are still required to take the in-person Record Keeping B class.

Fatal Four Training: 

This two and a half hour training, Fatal Four (C01237), is only for I/DD providers, and providers serving I/DD residents. For example, an APD care home that has an interagency placement of an I/DD resident. This training will take place on Workday and requires an account.

Instructions to Create Workday Account

You may choose to take The Fatal Five to fulfill this requirement. This new one hour training course is offered by Oregon Care Partners.

If you have already taken Fatal Four and want to take The Fatal Five to improve your skills, it counts toward your annual required CEUs.

Find courses to fulfill operator, resident manager and caregiver CEU requirements. To qualify for Continuing Education Units, all classes or trainings must be approved by the State of Oregon's Adult Foster Home Training Credit Committee or by the ACHP. Make sure the trainings are approved for the population you are licensed to serve.
