Members of the public are invited to attend the final Stakeholder Representative Group meeting for the Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge feasibility study on Monday, April 16 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. The meeting will be located at Mercy Corps, Community Room, 45 SW Ankeny St., Portland.
The Earthquake Ready Burnside Bridge project is examining options to create a resilient lifeline crossing over the Willamette River in the event of a major earthquake. Providing a way to cross the river after an earthquake will be critical for emergency response, reuniting families, and helping our community recover. The project is in the feasibility study phase, which is expected to be completed in fall 2018.
Stakeholder Representative Group input will advise the project team as they narrow crossing options to a short list of preferred alternatives that will be studied in a future National Environmental Policy Act planning phase.
The meeting agenda includes an update on outreach activities, evaluation trends, next steps in the process and a public comment period.
Committee members represent nearby residential areas, business districts, and interests including freight, autos, pedestrians, bicyclists, the environment, bridge history, and organizations based near the bridge.
There are several transit options near Mercy Corps, including the TriMet Skidmore Fountain Max Station and buses #12, 19, and 20 Stop ID: 9526, 689. On-street parking is also available.
