Multnomah County, Oregon is investing in workforce equity and culture change. On May 30, as part of the local government’s budget for fiscal year 2020 (July 2019-June 2020), the Multnomah County Board approved $2 million towards the furthering of its ambitious workforce equity efforts. These investments in the areas of protected class complaints, leadership development, and civil rights, demonstrate our earnest commitment to deep change.

This investment includes staffing and resources for the internal team committed to organizational learning and development to do the following:
Design and facilitate a Leadership Development and Accountability Program;
Host a county-wide educational conference for the County’s 800 managers/supervisors;
Expand capacity in offering culturally specific trainings; and
Expand capacity for in-house mediation services.
We are reorganizing and hiring to meet these goals. Our hiring is a mix of regular (budget funded and ongoing) and limited duration positions (one time funding up to two years with full benefits).
