Revitalizing County Assets

Before I served as a Multnomah County Commissioner, I served as a Gresham city councilor. I remember even then, I dreamed of a more productive use for the Vance Properties. Community members are most familiar with the edges of this 90 acres as they use Vance Park or visit the Yeon Complex for transportation or land use inquiries. But the future of these parcels was uncertain until we were able to complete the Vance Vision Plan, a conceptual plan for the future use of Multnomah County’s expansive property in west Gresham’s Rockwood/Centennial neighborhood.

After several years of planning, building partnerships, and moving forward with small elements of exploration, the Vance Master Plan was released in March 2022.

I am excited for our next steps in the Vance 190th Employment Corridor, the Vance Park and Pit properties, and the Vance 182nd Corridor Sites. I know a project this large will span the terms of many elected officials but I look forward to working with our economic development partners to incentivize development in our industrial areas and the continued partnership of our non profit and community stakeholders as we address safe, accessible, and affordable options for the future of the site.
