Lane closures continue on Hawthorne Bridge this week

TRAFFIC ALERT: This week there will be directional lane closures on the Hawthorne Bridge for ongoing maintenance and paving work. Expect traffic delays.

Westbound lanes

On Monday, Sept. 16 starting at 2:00 p.m. the westbound vehicular lanes will be closed on the Hawthorne Bridge. Pedestrians will be directed to use the eastbound sidewalk. Cyclists will be directed to a detour. The westbound vehicular lanes and sidewalk will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 5:00 a.m. There will be flaggers on the bridge directing traffic. The westbound lanes will close again at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 and reopen at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Eastbound lanes

On Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 7:00 p.m. the eastbound vehicular lanes will be closed on the Hawthorne Bridge. Pedestrians will be directed to use the westbound sidewalk. Cyclists will be directed to a detour. The eastbound vehicular lanes and sidewalk will reopen at 11:00 a.m. the following morning. Those lanes will close during the same time frames, on Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7:00 p.m. and reopen at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20.

These closures are weather dependent. Plan ahead for your commute and use alternative routes.
