Project Description
We are replacing the control system that helps operate the Hawthorne Bridge. This includes the computer that allows us to send instructions, the drives that use those instructions to move the drawbridge, and other controls.
We are also upgrading the electrical system before upgrading the control system.
The new system will be more reliable. It will be easier to use and maintain. It will also provide more data to monitor the health of the bridge and give feedback to bridge operators.
Traffic Impacts
Lane closures may occur starting Monday, July 27, 2026.
From Wednesday, July 29 to Friday, July 31, the bridge will be fully closed to cars, bikes, pedestrians and river traffic during working hours, about 6am to 6pm.
The bridge will be fully closed to cars, bikes and pedestrians from 6am on Saturday, August 1 to 11:59pm on Sunday, August 2.
