Political violence has no place in our society – no matter what your political views are. The escalation of violence and threats over the past year against political figures, elected officials and public employees is contrary to our democratic ideals and must be condemned. We stand together in condemning recent events and upholding free speech, non-violent protest, and the central tenets of democracy as a model for this nation, our state and our local governments.
We must stand together and fight against hate and for inclusion and belonging. Our diversity is our strength, and we must continue to uphold this truth in both our words and actions as extremist threats and violence continue to become more prominent.
