In 2023, a donor gave Multnomah County Archives a group of important records. The donation included about 70 photographs from 1898 documenting the Hillside Poor Farm. The Archives has always held many records related to the Poor Farm in Troutdale. It had little primary source material on the Poor Farm's first location in the West Hills.
The new photographs provided inspiration for the Archives' latest exhibit. A Sanborn Insurance Map shows the plan of the Poor Farm property. Using the map as a guide, this interactive exhibit takes you on a virtual tour of the Hillside Poor Farm. Go back in time and visit this important piece of County history.
