Eric Zimmerman

About

Eric is a lifelong Oregonian with 16 years of local, state, and federal experience. He has undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Portland.

Zimmerman previously worked for Multnomah County for nearly 10 years where he worked in the Division of Assessment, Recording, and Taxation and then served as the chief of staff to Diane McKeel, the Multnomah County Commissioner for District 4. 

He was a founding chair of the Veterans Employee Resource Group and served on the Veterans Task Force for the county. He also has experience as the deputy city manager for two mid-sized cities in Oregon and served as Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler’s senior advisor for the central city in Portland. 

Concurrently, he serves in the Oregon Army National Guard with occasional overseas assignments which have included Iraq, Kosovo, and Bangladesh. Zimmerman returned to Oregon in June 2022 from a diplomatic assignment with the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh. 

He is a proud member of Portland’s LGBTQ community and a senior fellow with the American Leadership Forum of Oregon.
