Dear Friends and Neighbors,

My team and I spend a lot of time out in the county hearing from community members about your concerns, learning from your experience and expertise during particular audits and investigations, and reporting back to you on how your insights have contributed to the work we do on your behalf. This month, we invited you to our house to continue the conversation.

At our in-person and virtual open houses, we shared information about our work, heard and responded to your questions, and received feedback on our upcoming projects and on our office more generally. It was energizing to talk with people about how we can work together to promote a county government that is accountable and equitable.

If you weren’t able to attend either the in-person or virtual open house, I hope you will take some time to check out the remarks from our in-person open house

And please continue sharing your concerns and ideas with us! You can use this form to connect with me and my staff.

Best wishes for fall!
Jennifer

Financial Condition Report 2024

The 2024 Financial Condition audit report provides a useful look back at historical trends and can help inform future decision making. Most dashboards include data from fiscal year 2005 to fiscal year 2023, with information about the county's financials, as well as various economic trends and demographic trends. There are no recommendations for this report. Kudos to Operations & Audit Director Annamarie McNiel and Performance Auditor Michelle Greene for conducting this audit.

On September 18, the Office of Multnomah County Auditor Jennifer McGuirk hosted an in-person open house event for community members to learn more about the work of the Multnomah County Auditor’s Office, which includes performance audits, the good government hotline, the ombudsperson, and community engagement. / Open House Photos by Motoya Nakamura

Community Engagement

This month, my team and I were honored to host our office’s first-ever open house events. On September 18, we welcomed over 50 guests at the Multnomah Building for an in-person open house. Attendees included community members, other elected officials, folks from community-based organizations, and Multnomah County employees.

We had the privilege of featuring AFSCME Local 88 President Jackie Tate and Community Advisory Committee members Becky Graham and John Karabaic. Their remarks and expressions of appreciation for our office were heartwarming.

Then on September 26, we held a virtual open house. More than 20 people attended, including Community Advisory Committee member Diane Odeh, who talked about her experiences contributing to our office’s work. We were grateful to have guest speakers at both events, along with speakers from within our office who talked about how we serve the people of Multnomah County through performance audits, the Good Government Hotline, the county ombudsperson, and community engagement. This is work we do on your behalf.

I want to thank Constituent Relations & DEI Engagement Specialist Raymond De Silva, our Communications and Engagement Intern Gelsi Tuz, and Performance Auditor Michelle Greene for their great work orchestrating both open houses.

Resource Guide 2024

2024 Resource Guide

This summer, College-to-County (C2C) Communications and Engagement intern Gelsi Tuz-Uxul updated the 2024 Resource Guide. Learn more information about what the Auditor's Office does and resources in Multnomah County - things to do, places to go, and resources to access.

The information in this guide is for everyone and emphasizes resources for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities to support self care, resiliency, and improved wellness as an act against racism.
